What time period does the RP take place? Is it around the time the books take place or is it back when Darwin was first being built, or maybe a few decades afterward?

I haven't looked at it since it first was made a Thomas was trying get everything accurate.


And just as a notice, chances are past perhaps mentioning an idea or correcting someones mistake, I probably won't have much to do with the RP.

Yeah I am trying to fix the Wiki, but it is not cooperating... /OfF ToPiC

It would be helpful to at least mention the Darwin, and its creation in the intro, but it doesn't necessarily have to be in the RP.

May I suggest we are just landing on the surface, coming out of the shuttle/ship. then proceed from there. most everything before this can be explained in a small flashback (gotta luvs dem) or in the previously stated Intro to plot storyline in the OP...

I like Balu's idea. That gives us eight years of RP time to play with. Smile


Though, wouldn't it be better to play a year or so after touch down? That way Darwin would already be in its prime, the shock of "OMG! ALIENS!!!" would allready be mostly over for the Xen'vi and such. However, Xen'vi/human communication would still be exceedingly hard as a common language (wherein the Xen'vi only use one of their six voiceboxes) would still be in developement.

It's stuff lke that we have to sort out.

Initially they can't, but after a few months of watching and learning, humans managed to sort of communicate via gestures (mainly hand gestures) and recorded basic speach. Later Xen'vi infants were allowed to learn basic English (by using only one of their voice boxes and without some human sounds they can't make, of course), even though humans were incapable of learning Xen'vi, due to having five voices too few. Co-oporation between humans and Xen'vi eventualy led to the developement of a common language, which is basically Xen'vi, but simplified to only one voice and with as little unsayable-by-humans sounds as possible.

Good thing Svia and Valiero were/are passive towards humans, you know?

That is quite a good thing.

I'd like us to begin the RP not long after Darwin is established so we can go about and discover the fauna and flora of the planet ourselves, rather than have other NPC characters already having done so before the RP started.

I personally think it would be fun to start as the ship lands. The idea of the Xen'vi going through the ZOMG ALIENS LOLWUT phase seems quite interesting.
